PDF (Portable Document Format) is a page-description format. It is not HTML, and it is not a simple image.
Common uses
- Print-ready documents
- Forms
- Archives
Strengths
- Pagination
- Embedded fonts
- Wide archival use
Weaknesses
- Accessibility varies
- JavaScript in PDFs
- Hard to convert well
Compatibility. Readers everywhere. Rendering engines still disagree on edge cases.
Size and quality. Depends on embedded images and fonts.
How to open it. A PDF reader. Browsers can display many PDFs.
How to convert it. Not offered yet. Image and text conversions of PDF are easy to do badly; ConvertPass will not ship a thin PDF-to-JPG stub.
Security and privacy. PDFs can contain scripts, embedded files, and tracking. Treat unknown PDFs as untrusted. ConvertPass does not execute PDF content.
